I met ‘ Father Time’ yesterday. He turned and said, We have known each other before.” I replied, Mona Lisa. He bellowed out a laugh and said, ” That will do.”
Vintage Silver Christmas Tree
I remember your silver retro tree
sitting on your desk,
the ornaments of blue reflecting
years past of the-other-day.
I smile to remember our verbal
folly of the tacky tree
You would reply, it is the best,
and I would smile, and say ok.
The truth is, it was the best.
Memories of drive-in movies
and sock hops reflected in the light
of the mulit-color turning wheel.
I remember your silver tree,
your jolly laugh of folly and doo-wop.
Jokes of the past being the best of all.
I now remember, smile, and miss you.

Santa Came Too Soon
A voice so loud, I do remember,
Early evening, in late December
“Ho ho ho”, with a thunderous caugh,
Waking from slumber, we began to laugh.
Why was he here and we not asleep?
As our grandfather yelled, “kids come take a peep.”
“It looks as though Santa has come too soon,
You are awake and giggling in your room.”
We tip toed and peered around the hall to see,
a bearded man, red suit, looking back at me.
“Ho Ho Ho”, he winked and continued to sound.
“You are awake and wide eyed, I have found.”
We stood there in awe, and not a word said,
He hugged us, “Now get back to your bed.”
I remember the night, Santa came too soon.
As I tried to fall asleep, that night in my room.

Pantry
throw away my key.
For this is to be kept,
and only for me.
Preserving the fruits
of love are here.
Seasoned just right,
so they would be near.
So keeper of my pantry,
throw away my key.
So no one would enter,
but God and me.
