The sky begins

To rumble

The earth breaks

And begins to crumble

Bulbs push up

To soak in rain

And signs now show

Spring returned again

Breaking trail

the first day.

The year is now

a different number.

A cold night

a restless slumber.

2021 even sounds

better than before .

So slowly we open,

now close the door.

As the world still does not know

Autumn wears many faces

As the mornings lift

Into fog and mist.

Leaves now shuffle in sound

Dry enough to drop

Below the mothering tree.

Cool breeze will make way

To a warmer day

Reluctant to begin.

Black walnuts fall below

Your feet in surprise

Causing this runner to skip

By so not to fall…

I started out cold

And began to run

Right before the rising sun

As I ran I did not mind

The chill turned into

A refreshing time

Of lights and trees

And autumn sounds

While Golden leaves

Fell on the ground

Autumn awaits

The golden leaves turn

Halloween abates

My run was a different quest

I managed to improve my race

shaved 2 min per mile pace

The old red barn

Has lost some charm

The bare cupboards

sound alarm .

As the day of plenty

Is now in the past

The smell of yesterday

Somehow still last

Handkerchiefs are gone

Crochet by hand

The tiny baskets

No longer stand

The apples still ripen

And the pears still fall

Mask are all worn

But not by all

Poets and artist

Will record this time

When people passed

And the need to be kind.
