And the world is close

To turmoil.

However the birds

Still serenade

After the stormy night .

Easter Sunrise

Pink moon descends

While Jesus’s resurrection begins .

A year of hardship

Around the world

The Wrong unfurls

May the message of love

As a sacrifice reigns

And we in follow, do the same .

We were young

music was in our feet.

My older sister and I

left with the chores

of the evening after dinner

to clean the kitchen.

We would wash the dishes

and as we did, we danced.

rock and roll

and beach music,

the shag was the rage,

on linoleum floors.

Our grandparent’s home

with white wash cupboards.

a small kitchen table.

A swinging door to the dining room.

A door we kept closed

so we could dance to the radio.

a radio sitting on the yellow table

loud enough to get by …

not loud enough to get caught.

Elvis, Beach Boys and Buddy Holly

transformed into our bandstand

as we found ourselves dancing

in grandma’s kitchen …

Father Time returns

Another year older

His beard whiter

The weather much colder .

I poured my tea

And let it rest upon the fireplace.

I sat close by to stay warm

The embers glow on my face.

The storm just close enough

to warn that it is near and cold.

Staying far away

the clouds are gray and bold.

I return to the warmth

and start to drink my tea

It is the safety of my home

that truly comforts me.

The moon is out

The ghost about

In this soon to be

🎃 Halloween.

I run in fright

In the night

And hope to not be seen.

But the Casper winks

The pumpkins blink

As I pass the hallow team

Stretching so far

I try to see

the dark coal sky

hanging over me.

Constellations I recognize

spatter light in my eyes.

Laughing they drop

right before the horizon

turns crimson red.

I see the universe go on ahead.
