Poetry

Mia

She strides

Along beside

Watchful care

A stick to dare

Unwanted foe

I love her so

One Tree

One tree this year.

A time to remember.

We miss our loved ones

In this Covid December .

We will not forget

We are still in hope.

While many have lost

and now have to cope.

We light the candles

We cut the cake.

Pray for the lost,

different memories we make.

The Steps

We are not sure

We wait with uncertainty

We listen to sounds unheard

As the world still does not know

What challenges we face …

Time

A quick jaunt in early morning

Time was on my side

A holiday wish with all our warnings

Good wishes do abide 🙏

It’s a Wonderful Life ( excerpt with Jon Matteson, my son)

Stars

Among the stars

And ending night

My heart sores

My feet take flight

Alas another day is here

still left with our covid fear

But sustain us all we pray

So we will see another day.

Sunrise

Crescent Moon

The crescent moon

Shines just outside,

droplets of moon dust

Filters through ice crystals,

Frigid from late autumn.

We rise in hope as heavens

promise what we cannot.

Hope

Today a run

Of hope…

Autumn Run

I looked at the trees,

watched the leaves fall

How lovely it is

In spite of it all.

The tensions are high

about wrong or right.

The people have voted

and we grumble in spite

However the trees’ colors

of burnt orange and gold

the breeze helps them fall

and the trees just get old
