I wake to see a

Crescent Moon hanging just above

I look in awe as I have done so often

Stillness as quiet as the sky is black

Yet the lovely light shines on .

I remember the light

In my grandmother’s kitchen

Something you notice,

then later you remember

how refreshing her presence.

In silence from the gentle breeze

Solemnity found among the verdant green

As cool spring rain falls on the day to remember .

Weekend Speckled white and ash

Contrast green and soldiers seen

In uniform past.

What happen to the laughter,

The joy that once was there

A dark deep cloud began to rise

A sickness undeclared 

It swept across in human life

Unseen but still so real

A enemy without face 

Claimed all it set out to kill.

The cries within the elderly 

The beds of sick and dying 

The young, the youth,  left 

Behind found alone and crying.

What happen to the laughter

The joy that once was there

Now we gather in brokenness

Now we gather in despair….

A candle on her favorite food

Lit on this her 10th year passing

I sit and wonder in the quiet moment

No birthday song to wish a lasting

Wishes for the future gone

As the days have passed quickly

And you are not here to belong

At this table of celebration

Yet it is for you and only you

Leaving loved ones with their own

deliberation.

The sky begins

To rumble

The earth breaks

And begins to crumble

Bulbs push up

To soak in rain

And signs now show

Spring returned again

Birthday Stack

The stack went high
So high in the sky
The candles glowed
And went on and on
The special way
I started my day
With Mom and Dad
And siblings too
The glitter and gleam
Reflected in me
As the dreams for the day
Go as far as I can see.

I start to think

How hectic the world

Life in a blink.

I breath in deeply

And say a prayer

Grateful for the sunshine

The kindness the care
