Sweet Bread and Tea

A tradition of women

who have long since passed.

Has given belonging

to those who are last.

We stand in the clovers,

we pour tea at its best.

As the sweet bread is served

among all the rest.

May the Celtic women

long survive,

into the histories

and the archives.

Definer

Describe something you learned in high school.

Allow no one to define you, no matter how sophomoric they see you . You are the determiner of your own destination.

High school will be the first place you learn culture .

Finding Peace in Winter’s Embrace

The snow is a silent falling this morning .

white dress of winter’s prominence .

The temperatures are equally a quiet

presence as the single digits fall .

The birds are hushed with gray sky’s

hanging a winter blanket in the fields,

touching, no lines, no horizons

just gray on white and back again.

I bathe in the silence of aloneness.

Tucked in my home and

I am warmed by the fire,

knowing in the winter’s storm

I am blessed.

The Soul in Me

Do you ever see wild animals?

I ran in the middle of Alaska snow

As long as I ran I did not know

There were always a wild creature

Soon waiting for me .

It could have been a moose who looked

As I ran by and turned and took

Another way always seemed best

Among the snow and quiet unrest

A moose is kind but unafraid

And has chased after me, many a day

Then there were the large ravens flight

Who ran and skipped and flew in-spite

Of seeing me just ahead

and never reasoned never dread

A red fox came by once and peeked

Then on his way with his swift feet

Snow brown bear in the distance

Bison’s caught some resistance .

If you venture to go running in Alaska terrain

Be prepared for anything from snow to rain

Embracing Darkness: A Journey Through Advent

Just sit with me in the darkness

As Advent moves in.

You do not have to fix it,

Please, just listen in our silence.

Just sit with me,

in the darkness.

Because someone sat with me,

I was ok,

the darkness soon faded away.
